Nominees for Board of Directors:

Grace Vandal has been a member of the Credit Union since 2000 and became a Director in 2019. She joined Pfizer in 1997 and is currently a Senior Director of Project Management in Global Product Development. Grace earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from the Univ. of Rhode Island, a Master of Science in Chemical Oceanography from the University of Connecticut, a Masters in Pharmaceutics from Temple Univ. and a MBA from Univ. of Rhode Island. She has her Project Management Certification from the Project Management Institute. Grace is a Lay Eucharistic Visitor for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mystic and an avid cyclist.

Karen Walters has been a credit union member since 2007. She has over 30 years experience as a Pharmaceutical Scientist, and has held several positions with Pfizer over the last 20 years, currently as Senior Principal Scientist in Drug Safety.

Karen has received her BS (Biology, Chemistry & Math, St. Mary College, Leavenworth KS), MS (Physical Chemistry, St. Louis Univ.), PhD (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City) & MBA (Fairleigh Dickinson Univ., Madison, NJ), and is currently completing a Master in Public health (Univ. Mass-Amherst).

Karen has extensive volunteer experience that includes board positions with United Way of Southeast CT, Sacred Heart School (Chair) (Groton, CT), St. Bernard School (Uncasville, CT), and Sacred Heart/St. Mary Parishes (Groton, CT).

Glenn Wilcox has been a member of the credit union for over 40 years and joined the Board of Directors in 2008. Glenn is a Rhode Island resident, and currently serves as Scient FCU’s Board Chairman.

Glenn held several positions within Pfizer during his career and was a member of the Change Leader Network before his retirement. He has always had an interest in the exponential technologies and workforce innovation. In 2017, Glenn initiated and developed a Process Technology training program for the Westerly Education Center. The program has been adopted by the Community College of Rhode Island where the college is evaluating the program for accreditation. Currently, Glenn is an instructor for the process technology program in Westerly, and is also building a curriculum to help Water Treatment operators advance their certification levels. Glenn is a long-time baseball manager and player in leagues for people age 50 and older.

Travis Williams has been a member of the Credit Union since 2004. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from North Carolina A&T State University. He is a combat veteran after having served in the United States Marine Corp during Operation Desert Storm. He has a wide-ranging career in finance and manufacturing operations for United Technologies, Barnes Group, Steelcase and Pfizer. He is currently employed by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation where he is responsible for the financial planning, reporting and analysis for the Tribe’s government and business holdings. Travis is also active in his community’s youth sports programs.
